Calculated fields are a unique feature of matter transactions that allow you to easily keep your matters reconciled
What are Calculated Fields?
On the matter transactions page, you can turn an expected transaction into a calculated field. When this is done, Nojumi will auto-adjust the amount of that transaction to ensure that the projected balance of the matter becomes $0.
When are Calculated Fields used?
Calculated fields are a good way to calculate the amount that you will require from your client to complete the anticipated expenditures from the matter trust funds. They are also very helpful when you wish to calculate the balance of trust funds remaining after the anticipated expenditures from the matter trust funds.
How to turn a Transaction into a Calculated Field
To turn a transaction into a calculated field
- Browse the matter transactions page
- Right-click on the Actions button to the right of the expected transaction that you wish to add a calculated field to, and click on Make Calculated Field
- Once you turn an expected transaction into a calculated field, a small calculator will appear next to that transaction, and the amount of the transaction will be automatically adjusted to a number that would yield a $0 projected balance for the matter.
- Once a matter has a calculated field, as you add subsequent transactions, the amount of the calculated field self-adjusts to maintain a $0 projected balance.
