Is Nojumi's ID Verification technology compliant with Law Society of Ontario rules?

Yes, Nojumi's ID Verification is fully compliant with the requirements of the Law Society of Ontario

The Law Society of Ontario requires the technology used for the virtual verification with authentication method to be capable of comparing the features of the government-issued photo identification document against

    1. known characteristics (e.g., size, texture, character spacing, raised lettering, format, design)
    2. security features (e.g., holograms, barcodes, magnetic strips, watermarks, embedded electronic chips), or
    3. markers (e.g., logos, symbols)

When you complete ID Verification on Nojumi, through the assistance of our partners, we verify the individual's name, address, date of birth, phone number, and ID number against available records and trusted databases such as voter and driver registration records, property records and credit bureau records.

As part of the process, the legitimacy and currency of the ID is checked through anti-fraud checks. The date of birth and name on the ID is also checked against the data provided by the person. The person is then asked to take a selfie. The selfie is then checked to ensure it is a live video of a real human and it is also verified that the selfie matches the photo in the ID.

We also complete SMS verification and will verify the user's phone number by asking them to enter a code sent via SMS.
