Best bookkeeping practices within a matter

This page sets out how you should best use the matter bookkeeping features available in Nojumi to ensure your matters always remain reconciled

Enter the Expected Transactions

We recommend that you add expected transactions as soon as you create the matter, even if you don't know the exact amount of the anticipated transactions. Nojumi supports the addition of future transactions, which allows you to create an anticipated trust ledger and modify it along the way.

Match the Expected Transactions with Bank Feed Transactions

When you add expected transactions, Nojumi will monitor your bank feed and will notify you as soon as it locates a match for your expected transaction. As soon as you match an expected transaction with a transaction from the bank feed, it becomes reconciled and will be shown in white.

Matter Closing Procedure

Before closing the matter, you should

  1. Ensure that all transactions are reconciled transactions showing in white with a green checkmark next to them
  2. Ensure your actual balance is $0.00
  3. Ensure your projected balance is $0.00 and that you have no expected transactions
